Dear Parents and Guardians,

There have been rumors circulating about potential immigration visits to our school, and we want to clarify that these claims are completely false. There have been no immigration-related visits or actions taken at our school.  We understand that rumors can cause concern, and we want to assure you that our school remains a supportive and inclusive environment for all families.

New York city Public Schools and the Mayor’s Office are committed to protecting the right of every student to attend public school, regardless of immigration status, national origin, or religion. The United States Supreme Court has also recognized the importance of public education for all students, including undocumented students.  Public schools are at the center of our democracy, and New York City schools remain safe places for all students, families, and educators.

    Parent Coordinator, Ms. Selena Sarmiento

Dear Parents and Guardians,  

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Parent Coordinator, joining the  dedicated team at PS/IS 268Q.  My name is Ms. Selena Sarmiento, you may call me Ms. Sarmiento or Ms. Selena whichever is easier for you.   I am a Jamaica, Queens resident, born in Guayaquil, Ecuador raised in Bushwick, Brooklyn.   As Parent Coordinator, my primary goal is to serve the parents of our school and to act  as a bridge between families, educators, and the community. I look forward to organizing informative workshops, and/or offering resources to support your child's academic journey, I am committed to ensuring that every parent feels  welcomed and informed.

I anticipate  getting to know each of you and working together to cultivate a culture of partnership, where every voice is heard and every child can thrive.

Contact the Bus Company with your child's bus route number when:

  • Your child's school bus is late.
  • Your child's school bus did not arrive today.
  • You’re unsure about your child’s pick-up and/or drop-off times.

Contact OPT at (718) 392-8855 when:

  • You want to submit a complaint against a bus company.
  • You want to report a safety concern about a school bus.
  • You need help with an emergency involving a school bus.
  • You want to report an accident involving a school bus.

 

*Your child may qualify for an OMNY metro card if yellow bus service is NOT available for them. Please  speak to Ms. Sarmiento, Parent coordinator,  in the Main office.

 Applying to middle school for next year?

Below are the key dates for families applying during the 2024-2025 school year for admission to the 2025-2026 school year. 

  • Wednesday, October 9, 2024: Middle School Application Opens 
  • Friday, November 8, 2024: Deadline to register to test for Mark Twain I.S. 239 and District 21 Talent Tests
  • Friday, December 13, 2024: Middle School Application Closes
