Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Parent Coordinator, joining the dedicated team at PS/IS 268Q. My name is Ms. Selena Sarmiento, you may call me Ms. Sarmiento or Ms. Selena whichever is easier for you. I am a Jamaica, Queens resident, born in Guayaquil, Ecuador raised in Bushwick, Brooklyn. As Parent Coordinator, my primary goal is to serve the parents of our school and to act as a bridge between families, educators, and the community. I look forward to organizing informative workshops, and/or offering resources to support your child's academic journey, I am committed to ensuring that every parent feels welcomed and informed.
I anticipate getting to know each of you and working together to cultivate a culture of partnership, where every voice is heard and every child can thrive.

- You’re unsure about your child’s pick-up and/or drop-off times.

*Your child may qualify for an OMNY metro card if yellow bus service is NOT available for them. Please speak to Ms. Sarmiento, Parent coordinator, in the Main office.

Below are the key dates for families applying during the 2024-2025 school year for admission to the 2025-2026 school year.
- Wednesday, October 9, 2024: Middle School Application Opens
- Friday, November 8, 2024: Deadline to register to test for Mark Twain I.S. 239 and District 21 Talent Tests
- Friday, December 13, 2024: Middle School Application Closes
- Wednesday, April 9, 2025: Middle School Offer Release https://www.schools.nyc.gov/enrollment/enroll-grade-by-grade/middle-school
For Students Entering High School in Fall 2025
Below are the key dates for families applying during the 2024-2025 school year for admission to the 2025-2026 school year:
- Tuesday, October 1, 2024: High School Application, LaGuardia Application, and Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) Registration Opens
- Friday, October 18, 2024: SHSAT Registration Closes
- Wednesday, October 30, 2024: SHSAT School Day Testing
- Sat / Sun, November 16-17, 2024: SHSAT Testing (8th grade students not participating in school day testing)
- Wednesday, December 4, 2024: High School and LaGuardia Applications Close
